Add Style to your Home with Curtains and Window Treatments

Curtains and Window Treatments
Besides their core purpose of providing privacy to your room, Curtains and Window Treatments also add style and elegance to your space. Read to explore more in this regard.

Any sort of curtain and window treatments necessarily fulfill their basic purpose of imparting privacy to your room. But you should plan your Curtains and Window Treatments with an approach of beautifying your home as well, because windows comprise of a major area and hence their treatment become an important element in the overall settings of your home.

Although installing Curtains and Window Treatments with the dual purpose of privacy and décor may be a bit costly, but it is worth, seeing the impact they would create on the appearance and ambience of your room. A well decorated room may be rendered wanting in absence of proper window treatments. The following should be considered before designing your window treatments:

Type of Window Treatments
The first thing you have to decide is the type of treatment needed for a specific room. You have to ascertain whether you need curtains or blinds or shutter or shades? As different Window Treatments have their different purpose, you have to decide this as per the usage. Bedrooms usually have thick draperies which block sunlight in the day and provide maximum privacy as sun sets. Living room can have semi sheer fabrics as curtains as ample light is needed in such common areas. Blinds are generally installed in kitchen as well as bathrooms.

Colours, Shades and Fabrics
The next important factor is the colour and shade of the window treatment, which have to be as per the purpose and also in sync with the overall décor of the space. If your windows are in a direction where direct sunlight falls on them, you should avoid bright colours as they will fade fast due to regular sunlight falling on them.  Also if you have small babies, you should go in for thick and dark shade curtains in your bedroom, as an ambience of night has to be created when the infants sleep during the day. People residing in cold areas may use suede, velvet, tapestry, or tweed since their weight helps block light and keep heat in, thus saving them from adverse cold conditions.

Length and Lining
In fact, length and lining find greater use in enhancing the décor, rather than increasing the functionality. Curtains or other window treatments hanged higher above the window, give a sense of height to the room. For a more traditional look, with the curtain slightly puddled on the floor, you'll want to add another two or three inches to your length, while for a modern, crisp look, you may have the panel fall flush with the floor.

Mode of Buying
Instead of going in for ready to buy window treatments, it is advisable to go for customized solutions as it give a neat and tailored look, like a perfectly fitted suit. Moreover you get the option of going in for the accessories as per your room’s décor.

A little thinking, planning and creativity while deciding Curtains and Window Treatments can make your abode look more elegant, lively and refreshing.
