Go for earthy tones like whites, tan, cream and other neutral shade. The only exception is the modern noir look, which uses the colour black’s powerful shade for a specific mood. However, make sure that it is organic and completely natural. 

Print it right: Since the modern look rejects fuss, your modern window curtains must also follow this lead. Avoid fussy or large prints. Most modern curtains have a single shade. A light shade like white or tan is very adaptable and will go with the calm atmosphere that is hallmark of this style. You can add clean geometric patterns like stripes or checks. However, make sure that these are discreet and clean.

No fuss: Many stylists believe that the modern look does not really need curtains. It is a design style that looks for clean lines and is hence, rejects any clutter.
